So the Raider has been reluctant to start cold since I got it, even with the choke. Usually running on 2, maybe 3 cylinders until I give it some revs to wake up a bit. The ignition components are all good, and only 5 years old or so, so I figured that the vacuum line octopus of a stock carb was the issue. Luckily I decided to change the fuel filter today, which I should’ve done as soon as I bought the thing after it sat for 4 years. Holy hell what a difference that made. It’s running smoother, not missing at all, throttle response is much better, and has more power. Looks like the Mikuni will soldier on for a while longer.

did you cut the old one open to see how clogged it is?

It was translucent, looked to be a bit dirty but nothing crazy. I’d say it was a lot worse than it looked though
